What an exciting occasion to have both the Cotton pygmy-goose and the African pygmy-goose nesting simultaneously! Now comes the fun part of checking the nests for fertility. As you can see, the females are not keen on leaving the eggs. For such a diminutive species, they will fight you away from the cavity in the same manner of much larger waterfowl. In that regard, I must patiently await a feeding departure in order to check egg viability so as not to have them unintentionally crack the eggs while fending away my intrusion.
