After many years of successfully breeding both species, the 2018 season has been the first where we have had Eurasian Teal and Green-winged Teal hatch simultaneously. Long considered conspecifics, especially due to the highly similar nuptial plumage in the males of each, behavioral, morphological, and molecular data are proving them to be distinct species. This comparison photo of the ducklings, Eurasian Teal on the left and Green-winged Teal on the right, show the differences in facial markings between the two.
