New Species at Pinola

We are thrilled to now be working with this phenomenal species, the Victoria crowned pigeon! No need for me to sing the praises of its magnificent appearance as my words cannot possibly do its elegant plumage justice. Of the three crowned pigeon species, the Victoria crowned pigeon is the more threatened of the group in their native haunts of the lowland forests of New Guinea. They are an extremely confiding species, both in the wild and in captivity, and this new pair has settled quite readily into their aviary and are completely comfortable around the keepers and aviary staff.
