North America Ruddy Duck Display

Continuing on with stiff-tailed duck courtship displays, today we feature perhaps the most well-known, the North America ruddy duck, one of the most animated! With his tail erect, he claps his bill against its chest, creating enough air to produce bubbles beneath him, and emits a low frequency sound at the end. They are perpetual motion; once they start, they continue on for extended periods of time. In just this short 20 second clip, he does it 4 times!
