Pink-eared ducks claiming territory

In only a matter of days, this pink-eared duck will begin nesting. She’s becoming increasingly gravid and egg laying is imminent. As we have shown in past posts, pink-eared ducks become very territorial once a nesting site has been chosen and are a force to be reckoned with throughout the entirety of the nesting and rearing process. We removed the other pink-ears today to other aviaries to allow this pair their space…and to give the others some reprieve!
